The Future Propulsion and Power CDT is fully involved in outreach activities for a variety of target audiences

Public Open Days

The Whittle Lab holds an Open Day as part of the Cambridge Science Festival. We give the public the chance to see some of the exciting jet engine and gas turbine experiments we do at the Whittle Laboratory. You can join us for activities that show how turbo-machines work and tours of our laboratories, including the chance to see one of the first steam-turbine engines.

For Schools

The CDT students have been involved in outreach by attending STEM days in schools. A range of activities suitable for primary school children, secondary school or sixth formers can be brought into the school. If you would like to contact us about a schools visit please click here.

For Communities

The CDT is developing outreach packs that can be used to teach a range of age groups about Future Propulsion and Power. This year the CDT held it’s first Women in Aerospace dinner. According to Women in Aerospace, in 2010, roughly 10 percent of the aerospace industry was made up of women. While this number is slowly increasing, the Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Propulsion and Power has decided to take a leading role in promoting women in leadership roles in aero-related sciences.

Innovation Days

The CDT has an annual innovation day where all of the cohorts come together to encourage collaboration and creative thinking. The format varies each year but has been highly successful is motivating innovative thinking on different challenges faced by the students.
