The CDT has an annual innovation day where all of the cohorts come together to encourage collaboration and creative thinking. The format varies each year but has been highly successful is motivating innovative thinking on different challenges faced by the students.
This years Innovation Day involved designing a ‘lesson in a box’ for primary schools. Concept prototypes were built and tested alongside the design of lesson plans and instructional videos. In the afternoon students had some track time on the Derby Velodrome before having a talk with Tony Purnell from british Cycling and watching some professional cyclists perform experiments on drag and positioning. The afternoon session allowed the students to use their knowledge gained on the CDT to apply to different situations.
